Nik Shaw is a Los Angeles based Director of Photography
shooting music videos, feature films, shorts, commercials and
Nik has worked on over 300 productions in various capacities
including cinematographer, electric, Movi drone operator and 1st. Nik has shot three low-budget features, lensed music videos for Wiz Khalifa, Sean Kingston, Angel Haze, Grandson, Blackmore and others.
He’s shot for documentarian Robert Greenwald’s The Real NRA, as well as donating his time for the Celia Center. Some of his commercial work includes Digornio Pizza, the Movember Foundation and Arizona Mead. Aside from working in the Los Angeles area, since 2016 he’s shot film and music videos in Denmark, Scotland, Thailand, Puerto Rico and Ibiza, Spain.
In 2018 Nik created a live-action anime channel on YouTube to showcase his short films based on popular anime series. His original material has garnered millions of views and tens of thousands of positive comments from fans hungry for authentic takes on the genre.
While primarily self-taught, he's also studied technique, lighting and technology at the Global Cinematography Institute under Yuri Neyman ASC and Vilmos Zsigmond ASC; the California Art Institute under Mark Moore, and courses from Shane Hurlbut, ASC.
